I am a speck

Oh my goodness!  Here it is, Friday again and I’m happy about that.  The thing is, wasn’t it only Monday yesterday?  When I was a kid, it seemed an eternity was spanned between each week and especially when waiting (not so patiently) for some special occasion to arrive.  And here we are, half the year over.

Do I blame the full-on lifestyle we have all grown accustomed to? Our calendars filled to overflowing with activities, events, catch-ups.  Our lives seemingly run by small electronic devices, holding all that is precious.

I’m sure the world is spinning faster.  Sometimes I feel like I might spin straight off, and go floating in the atmosphere like a bit of flotsam bobbing on an ever ebbing tide.  It’s peaceful up there, and I can watch at a distance the turmoil unfolding on earth.

As the world turns, I see mother nature wielding her powers, I see the greed and hatred of men, the pain inflicted and the suffering of the innocent. But I also spy the generous and the kind, the good and caring hearted, the resilience of mankind.

My life is sometimes tumultuous, there is worry (don’t waste your time on this, it is pointless) there is the longing for my loved ones to be cocooned in love, laughter, good health and contentment.

The world turns, the sun rises and sets, the moon sheds her light, there are droughts and there is abundance, there are floods and there are calm waters.  And there is me, ever thankful, a small speck in this magnificent galaxy.
