World’s Greatest Shave – the countdown is on…

So, I’ve decided to participate in the World’s Greatest Shave.  I’m registered and have some jolly wonderful sponsors – thanks to those fabulous individuals that have donated and/or pledged a donation.

Every now and then I get a bit nervous!  What am I going to look like with a short fuzz of hair crowning my head?  Will I reach my goal?  Will I get stared at?   Blah, blah, blah…

And then… I’m excited by the prospect.  Especially when I get a new sponsor or pledge, they spur me on, put a smile on my face, increase my determination.  What quirky headgear can I wear to counteract the nakedness?  How good I will feel to know, that I have made a difference, even if it is just a little bit.

The good fund raising ideas swirl around in my brain, putting them into action is another thing.  Tonight I popped over to my local shopping centre.  One raffle prize, two contacts and one outright no – I have but started!  Tomorrow I will be following up with the Woolworths store manager, wish me luck – I’m hoping for a positive outcome.  Centre Management want me to leap hurdles set at a suitable height to make my legs stretch but I am determined.

Slowly, ever so slowly I am striving towards my $5000 goal.  Only two months to go, fingers crossed the dollars roll in.  Thanks to my wonderful work colleague ‘Chocolate Eaters’ who are supporting me as only chocolate eaters could – by ‘eating’ chocolate.

The irony is that I actually like my hair as it is… Easy care, wash and wear, scrunched up curls – such a nice change from the ever painful task of straightening the strands to a smooth, sleek style.

The idea is to ‘go natural’.  That is – once the pruning has been accomplished, my hair will be left to grow naturally – by that I mean no dye!  Heaven forbid, it is going to be a shock, so get prepared for the salt and pepper silver grey that I feel certain will grow lustily from my hair follicles.

Can I do it?  Who knows, but that is the plan.  Please be kind.
